The number of college students who own tablets has changed drastically since a study taken last year. According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, 7% of college students said they owned a tablet last year.
This year 25% own one — and 63% think in the next five years, tablets are going to take over the niche currently held by textbooks.
More than a third of the students said they’re going to buy a tablet in the next six months.
And as far as studies that indicate students prefer textbooks: Close to 60% said they preferred digital books for class assignments; only a third said they’d rather use regular textbooks.
