The social network started as a site for students – check out its new feature devoted to them.
Current college students might not even remember this, but Facebook used to require a college email address to sign up. Though it’s since expanded its outlook, the social network is putting some new attention on higher education, with a new “Groups for Schools” feature.
Described as “Your student life, all in one place,” schools can create communities for students only (again, a college email address is needed). Members can create or join groups within the school community, such as dorms, classes or campus activities.
The feature’s currently at the testing phase, with new school groups being added slowly (currently it’s being used for Brown and Vanderbilt Universities and the University of Toronto).
Will this be a useful tool for schools? Share your thoughts in the comments section, and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter.
